About “Sugar Free Troopers”

A question we get asked is, “Why do we call ourselves ‘Sugar Free Troopers’. It is simple, we are Type 1 Diabetics, raised on many Sugar Free items or “Zero Sugar” to make sure our blood sugars do not spike. The term “Trooper” can describe a reliable, dependable person, often used informally to refer to someone as hardworking and consistent. So as a Diabetic, they need to rely and depends on themselves to keep blood sugars in control. With hard work and consistency, they are keeping a lower A1C.

Every Diabetic (all types) are troopers in our eyes. We continue to grow the troops and show we are not alone, and we can be proud of what we are accomplishing every day in life. Every day we battle to keep our blood sugar down; it is an unseen item, many do not realize the everyday battle. We decided to build this website to increase donations to Diabetes research. We want to sell merchandise where all profits go to Diabetes Research. We plan to release the amount raised at the end of each year, demonstrating that we couldn’t do it without the support of fellow Troopers.

Some ask if we are donating it on the website itself; the answer is yes, however we will be donating it all in one large lump sum at end of the year to Breakthrough T1D (Formally JDRF) or American Diabetes Association. We want to do walking events, conventions, and more to raise more and to donate at events towards research.
